I mentioned in my comment on Paige's post that I had registered for the 3-Day Breast Cancer walk which will take place in Seattle September 7-9, but I thought I'd extend an invitation to you all to join our team and walk with us!
A few of you could get together and form another team if you'd like to team up with others who live closer together. It's a great cause and it fits in beautifully with losing weight and getting into shape.
If walking 60 miles and camping with thousands of other women (and some men) doesn't float your boat, but you still want to help fund breast cancer research and treatments, I'd be tickled pink (get it?) if you'd leave a donation at my 3-Day site: Forty and Fit

My girlfriend did this last year and she said it was amazing.
In fact, I know another woman who did a marathon in Georgia...I wonder if she'd be down w/ it.
I know that I couldn't do it, but I totally applaud you and will happliy link your info on my blog so people could contribute to your account - if you'd like.
I'd love that, thanks!
I'm still not 100% sure that I can do it, but I am going to give it a 100% effort. I haven't been able to say that about anything for a long time.
Jennifer--
This is wonderful that you're doing this. My mom and Grandmother had breast cancer so this is VERY close to my heart. How long do we have to be able to support you? I'd love to.
Also, for practice, see my post above...that may be a fun way for you to condition yourself.
The walk is in September, and I need to have at least $2200 raised by that time to participate. Donations can be made through the website or I can mail a donation slip and return envelope. Also, any fundraising ideas would be great because I'm pretty new to the whole fundraising thing.
Jennifer, I have always wanted to do this walk, but the money thing discouraged me....what a whimp I must be. I am proud of you and your group. My Great Aunt died of Breast cancer and my favorite Aunt is a survivor....my mom bugs me every year to get a mammagram...haven't don that yet.
I will talk to my hubby about the donation.
Love to you!
Jules
I've been like Julie in that I've looked into that also but the huge amount that you need to raise scares me.
Maybe you can do a car wash or something this Spring/Summer...I'd be glad to come and help you!!!
I will also email my family and friends with your website for donations.
I sent an email to my friends and family so hopefully we'll get you a little closer to your goal. Thanks for doing this!!!
Robin and Julie, Thanks!
I'd love to have you guys join us for the walk, though. Everyone I've talked to says earning the money isn't really that hard, especially when you work together. Lots of good ideas on how to do that and help at the3day.org too.
Of course, I've only just begun collecting donations, so I'll be able to tell you in a few months if it's really easy or not. lol
Oh, and do get the mammagram. In the inspirational video at the 3 day website a story that really got to me was a woman whose sister was a 1 year survivor at 43, and that early detection is what saved her. She said ten year ago they weren't encouraging women to get their first mammagram until age 45. So, because of the efforts of those raising money for breast cancer research and detection, her sister is alive. Ten years ago she might not have detected it in time.
