Vacation

Vacation was wonderful. We had a great time sightseeting, and relaxing, and eating out...

I did NOT do well eating. From day one it was pretty much a wash. However, I am committed to getting back on the right track tomorrow, first thing. I'm actually looking forward to it... I feel so much better when I'm eating well.

I'm not sure how to do better on vacation. I thought I'll have salads, and grilled chicken. But the prospects of lobster rolls, baked lobster, steak sandwiches, baked shrimp, and ice cream were just too much. I tried to stay away from fried food, which more or less worked. I had onion rings (a personal weakness) a couple of times, but that was about it.

So there we are. But I'm back, and ready to rock and roll. How is everyone else faring?

Hey, you gave yourself permission to splurge - and guess what?

As long as you get back on track for realsies, then you have given yourself a lesson in control - YOU over your food.

Listen...if the dogs dig out and run away, they go FAR! When they have an opportunity they go overboard...they come back, but my point is that we are like rubber bands, when pulled to a point, we SNAP BACK. You know, "give an inch, take a mile?"

There are laws of soul physics at work here. Trust em.

a. Get firmly back on your PLAN.
b. Prove to yourself who's boss of your Gob
c. The next time you are tempted, remind yourself that you're "not on vacation!"

I've noticed several women facing the issues of vacations, but I wonder something else....

What are your strategies for FOURTH OF JULY GONNA BE?

Every year I go to a big bash with tons of goodies. This year, there are gonna be some PROUD LADIES at this event - women who have lost singificant poundage.

Hey Paige, glad to see you back. : ) Elicia just about said it all! A wise woman, she is.
I've been doing G-R-E-A-T! I'm up to 62 pounds, and 58 inches. Amazingly so. I look so different from what I used to. I'm wearing sizes that I've not worn in 10 years. It's rather a trip actually. But a very nice trip.
Don't beat yourself up over how you ate on vacation. Just set some goals, and get back in the saddle. There's nothing that you can do that can change what's happenned, just look ahead. And please know that we ae all here pulling for you.

Glad your home safely...and now just enjoy the memories and get back to business. Taking care of ourselves is not a goal limited by a timeframe, it is lifelong. Looking forward to some good reports!

Glad you're back, Paige. Don't let your vacation memories be clouded by what you did or did not eat.

My strategies for vacations and eating out, are to not even consider or contemplate items that are on my no list....I don't even focus (literally) on the dessert menu, I glance over the whole menu, speed reading, looking for key words: breaded, fried, sweetened, mashed potatoes, etc. If I am reading a description and one of those words comes up, I just stop reading the description and let my eyes slip to the next menu item. Pretty soon, I will have determined which choices would be appropriate for me. Some restaurants will have 4 items, some may only have 1 or 2. For example, I know at Red Robin, I can have one of the following meals:

BBQ Chicken Salad (substitute red onion for the onion straws).

Chicken Ensenada platter

Salmon burger on whole grain bun

There are a few others, there, but these are the ones I prefer.

I don't even read the description of the onion rings or the fish and chips or the mud pie. I consider them a foreign language for my body. I just don't speak it.
